Simple Crock Pot or Instant Pot Shredded Chicken


Prep Time

Cooking Time

Crock Pot: 4 hours on high / 8 hours on low, Instant Pot: 30 mins.

Yields

4-5 servings

Ingredients

  • 6 cloves of garlic peeled
  • 1/4 cup for Crock Pot, 1 cup for Instant Pot chicken bone broth, chicken broth or water 
  • 4 frozen organic chicken breasts
  • 1 TBSP onion powder
  • 2 TBSP no-salt seasoning (I love the organic Kirkland Signature Brand)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Directions

Crock Pot: 
  • Place all ingredients in the crock pot
  • Cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours
  • Once cooking is complete, take 2 forks and shred the chicken, mixing in the garlic and seasonings 

Instant Pot: 

  • Place all ingredients in the Instant Pot
  • Put the lid on and move the valve to sealing. Press Manual pressure and set the timer for 11 minutes. The Instant Pot will take about 10 minutes to come to pressure. 
  • When the cook time is up, let the pressure release naturally for 5-10 minutes before using quick release to release the remaining pressure. 
  • Once cooking is complete, take 2 forks and shred the chicken, mixing in the garlic and seasonings. 


  • This dish is so versatile, use the chicken in taco's, in a pasta dish, on salads or sandwiches or enjoy it on it's own with a side of veggies!
  • Store the leftovers in the fridge and use for lunch
